Affirmations are nothing new. In fact they’ve been used for thousands of years, just that people didn’t really know that’s what they were. All successful people use affirmations on some level, even though they might not be consciously aware of what they are doing. It’s like it’s part of their ritual that helps them to successfully achieve everything that they set out to bring to fruition. It helps them to realise their goals. The idea behind affirmations is that you simply write down your goals 15 times a day and somehow, as if by magic, coincidences start to build until you achieve your objective against all odds.
There are many ways that anyone can put affirmations to use. You can write down your goals 10 to 20 times a day or you can simply say your goals in your head repeating them over and over again like they’ve already happened. Then watch as magically coincidences start to occur until your goal becomes a reality.
Remember all an affirmation is, is a phrase or sentence which clearly outlines what you want to achieve as if it’s already taken place. This bears repeating as it’s incredibly important. All this is doing is getting you into the right frame of mind; just keep saying it or writing it over and over until if feels so natural that it’s a foregone conclusion.
Often the best way to start is with something quite small and build yourself up from there. It’s easier that way because small successes will give you confidence in how well it works because it is possible to affirm some unlikely goals that will materialise in ways that seem almost miraculous. It’s as though everything just effortlessly falls into place. The most important thing at this point is to let it happen. Of course, when it comes to understanding how affirmations work when you are focusing your mind in a particular direction you will be open to the opportunities that are in alignment with what you’re looking for. You will also know which ones to avoid.
It can sometimes feel when you’re affirming your goals like things aren’t happening quick enough. It can feel frustrating and slow. Don’t try to push or force things. Instead, recognise what you’re feeling and ask yourself: what else is there that I need to know or act upon in order to bring my goals into fruition. Sometimes is may just require inner patience, and to continue to repeat the affirmations and enjoy the journey. Just don’t try to overthink things just carry on in every way possible taking whatever steps you can take to move you towards your goal.
The use of affirmations is always fascinating. It’s an opportunity to explore and also take note on the goals that do come to fruition. Build upon them and enjoy every moment of understanding the capabilities of your own mind, your own being. You’ll learn a lot about how your mind works.
Affirmations, after all, are a normal phenomenon. A book by Richard Wiseman, called The Luck Factor, outlines that a study of people who thought they were lucky and had special powers like ESP, had no special powers at all. However because they expected good luck, they were able to notice more opportunities around them that someone who thought they were always unlucky. This is very important to understand as what is happening is that people who are optimistic find they have a larger ‘circle of opportunity’. And as such they notice more and more opportunities at every corner.
However, perhaps most interesting is that Richard realised that when you train people to expect good luck, low and behold, their ability to see more opportunities grows significantly. Try it for yourself and see. The key though is to believe that you are lucky. Really, believe that you are lucky. For if it’s just a half-hearted effort to which you’re really looking to say, ‘see this stuff doesn’t work’, well guess what, it won’t so we can save you the effort right now.
The fact is that there is no mystery around affirmations. All its doing is improving your ability to be open to opportunities. It then seems like luck or a coincidence when something good happens that propels you towards your goal or it ‘just shows up’.
You see your brain doesn’t know reality from fantasy so it will believe what you tell it and start to move you in the right direction over time because it gradually becomes part of your reality. Once it sinks into the subconscious mind and the subconscious mind starts to take hold then this only strengthens your cause. And whether you say the affirmations to yourself or writing your affirmations which a lot of people think is even better, then it takes you from a place of fantasy to a belief that ‘this really can happen’. Either way, what you think about most is what you will get more of. That’s probably one of the most important points that you should take from this article. It has a profound effect on what you are in fact saying to yourself in your thoughts. Make them good thoughts, make them thoughts that will support you in every way.
There are many thousands of people who can recount their personal experience with affirmations and all they have achieved. This could be changing careers, finding their soul make or starting a business. It could be taking up a hobby that they’ve always wanted to do and excelling at it. The goal with affirmations can be as big or as small as you want it to be. That’s the point its your choice.
When it comes to affirmations here are a few tips:
1. Choose what feels best for you. So if you want to write it down, type it out, or just say them in your head, that’s fine. The most important thing is that you do them and keep a laser-like focus. So don’t fret about whether you should do them this way or that way. It’s wasted energy. Just focus on doing them however you want to.
2. It’s difficult to say how long an affirmation would take to come to fruition, it depends very much on you. For some people, it could be very quick. For others, it may take some time. One thing is for sure if you’re feeling stressed and wound up about it, this is not a beneficial state of mind to set you on the track to success. Relax and allow it to take its course. Just don’t give up even if it takes six months or more.
3. When an affirmation doesn’t work, it’s often because a person is not fully invested in it. Listen to how you feel when you say your affirmations. Do you feel that rush of excitement and energy? If not, then you’ll have a harder time realising your goal. Stop letting doubt get in the way or if you’re not totally committed to the goal, then choose something else that does stir your soul.
